From Florida, countless cruises sail to the Bahamas and the Caribbean
throughout the year. There are from 3 days / 2 nights to 15 days / 14 nights,
however, the most popular are those that last 8 days / 7 nights. Those who sail
to the Bahamas usually last 4 days, while those of the eastern, western and
southern Caribbean lasts 8 days.
The ports visited include Nassau, Grand Bahama, Dominican Republic,
Puerto Rico, St Thomas (US Virgin Island), Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, St.
Marteen, Aruba, Curacao, Panama, Belize, Island of Cozumel (Mexico), etc. In
all of them the different cruise lines prepare excursions for tourists to spend
the day. Even some lines have private keys and islands where their ships
arrive.
For golfers many of the ships have minigolf and there are also
incredible golf courses in the ports they visit, here we present five of them.
Located just 20 minutes from the cruise terminal of Nassau, Bahamas, we
find this extraordinary golf course. Royal Blue at Baha Mar is a Jack Nicklaus
Signature Golf Course with rolling fairways, moonscapes, native landscapes, and
striking views from every green and fairway. The par-72, 18-hole golf course
features dramatic vistas of the turquoise ocean on the front nine and forested
panoramas on the second half. At Royal Blue Golf Club, the natural landscape is
incorporated into the course’s design, leaving in place several indigenous tree
and plant species. The area is also home to over 70 indigenous species of
birds, including the Bahama Woodstar, egret, and osprey.
The course is public and the Green fee “All In” is $ 390 and include Greens
Fee, Shared Golf Cart, Golf Club Rental, 2 Sleeves of ProV1 Golf Balls,
Forecaddie and a special take home gift.
LUCAYAN GOLF CLUB. FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND.
Located 25 minutes from the Freeport cruise terminal port. The open,
breezy Reef course has 6,909 yards of expansive greens and fairways, scattered
with bunkers, water hazards and grassy rough. This links-style course stretches
almost 7,000 yards from the back trees and only requires a solid, short game to
achieve a low score. The close-cropped fairways are forgiving, but the bunkers
will test you. The greens are large and mostly flat, with a deceptive speed and
13 of the 18 holes play off water. The Reef Course was designed in 2000 by
Robert Trent Jones Jr., who is widely recognized as one of the leading golf
course architects of his generation.
The rates for play there are from $ 100 to $ 150 (depending the season)
and includes Green Fee, cart with GPS, clubs rent, and shoes rent.
Located 30 minutes from Amber Cove Cruise Terminal Port. This beautiful
course is Design by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The course is flat conditioned, with
exceptional greens, and surrounds the Playa Dorada Resort Complex in Puerto
Plata, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
The Playa Dorada is an excellent professional 18 holes-par 72 golf
course extending some 6,990 yards on uneven but very versatile terrain which
sometimes difficult, shots look easy and sometimes difficult, where water and
bunkers come into play just to prove your skills. The maturity of the course is
one of its singularities where mahogany, coconut, and palm trees stand
majestically tall, and, most of all, the spectacular views of mountain Isabel
de Torres and the beauty of the ocean with multi-tones of blue. Water plays a
big role here, even when it's not the ocean. Several lakes make their presence
known.
The Green Fee “All In” is USD 115. (Include
Forecaddie)
COCO BEACH GOLF COURSE. PUERTO RICO.
Located 50 minutes from San Juan terminal Port Cruise. The Coco Beach
Golf Course host the Puerto Rico Open, a PGA Tour event. Designed by Tom Kite, the
2 unique 18-hole courses bring you a dynamic golfing experience like no other.
Offering four diverse nines you will experience challenging play that excites
and inspires. Each nine caters for golfers of all abilities with four different
tee boxes ranging from 5,300 to 7,587 yards. The immaculate courses feature
seashore paspalum grass, white silica sand bunkers and challenging water
hazards for truly world-class play.
The Green Fee is USD 175-250 depending the season. (Include Forecaddie)
Located 15 minutes from Cozumel Island Cruise Pier. The island of
Cozumel’s first golf course is one of the best tests of golf in the Mexican
Caribbean. The Nicklaus Design Group has successfully balanced the strict
requirements of building a first-class golf course within the delicate
ecosystem of the surrounding mangroves, marshlands and tropical rainforest. The
golf course is home to blue crabs, iguanas, crocodiles, raccoons, and a
multitude of species of birds as well as other wildlife that call this habitat
home.
Green Fees: USD 150 “all in.” (TaylorMade and Nike rental clubs are
available for golfers who arrive without their equipment.)
