ARNOLD PALMER
INVITATIONAL.
By: Ergio Guitian A.
Every year the PGA Tour includes in its calendar at least four
tournaments in Florida. For this 2018 we will can see the stars of golf in the
traditional tournaments, the Honda Classic (West Palm Beach), Valspars
Championship (Palm Harbor), arnold palmer invitational (Orlando) and THE
PLAYERS Championship (Pontevedra). (https://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/schedule.html).
The arnold palmer invitational (formerly Bay Hill Invitational) has
been played continuously since 1979 at Bay Hill Orlando. This tournament
attracts every year one of the strongest fields of players to face an
extraordinary golf course and pay tribute to the king, Arnold Palmer. Its past champions
include Tiger Woods, who has won it eight times, Jason Day, Ernie Els, Vijay
Singh, Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, Tom Kite, among others. (www.pgatour.com/tournaments/arnold-palmer-invitational-presented-by-mastercard/past-winners-and-runners-up.html).
This year's defending champion, Marc
Leishman, will face another powerful group of players who will be looking for
the main prize of a total bag of $ 8,900,000 between March 15 and 18, 2018.
But, an important tip that I can give you is that you cannot stop
attending one of the practice days, either on Monday or Tuesday, or during the
Pro-Am on Wednesday.
Those days the players are more relaxed and share with the
fans, take pictures and sign autographs. It is a very interesting experience
that any golf fan cannot miss, I’m telling you! Even an autograph of Tiger
himself I have since 2011.
Bay hill Orlando
was built on the grounds of a citrus farm belonging to a well-known doctor of
the time, Dr. Philips. In 1975, Arnold Palmer acquired the club and in 1979 he
achieved the first arnold palmer invitational.
The course was remodeled in 2009 by
Arnold Palmer's own team of architects.
Every year thousands of golf fans, not only from the United States but
from all over the world, come to Bay hill Orlando to see their
favorite players. Many fans plan every year, in the Floridian spring, their orlando
golf vacations and thus be able to attend the arnold palmer invitational,
combining it with the multiple tourist attractions of the city.
Imagine yourself taking your orlando golf vacations this coming
spring in the northern hemisphere, attending a PGA Tour tournament, during the
day and dining at night in any of the extraordinary restaurants in the city, or
just strolling along the International Drive stopping at Orlando's eye. Can you
imagine a better orlando golf vacations?
